We demonstrate 8Tb/s DP-QPSK 50-GHz-spaced DWDM transmission over 457.6-km of installed DSF links with only EDFAs using digital coherent detection. This is the highest capacity field trial yet reported for a 127-Gb/s DP-QPSK DWDM system.
Optical solitons are considered as natural bits for telecommunications as they have the tendency to maintain their shape over transoceanic distances because of interaction between nonlinearity and anomalous group velocity dispersion. However, depending upon the individual pulse width, inter-pulse spacing and loss in the fiber, co-propagating solitons do interact and share energy. It is therefore imperative...
We demonstrated spectrally efficient (2-b/s/Hz) 1Tb/s DWDM transmission of 111 Gb/s no-guard-interval PDM CO-OFDM signals over DSFs with 50 GHz spacing. The record transmission distance of 2100 km in the 100-Gb/s-data-rate CO-OFDM systems was achieved.
Widely broadened super continuum (SC) generation is demonstrated using high energy fiber chirped pulse amplification laser at wavelength of 1.55 mum. An 0.8-2.6 um octave spanning SC is generated using ps pulse and dispersion shifted fibers. The high quality SC is also generated using soliton effect and self-phase modulation.
We analyze the Q factor and the conversion efficiency of all-optical wavelength converter based on four-wave mixing in dispersion-shifted fibers at 10 Gb/s employing single sideband signal. We find that the Q factor of the converted signal is always higher for upper-single sideband signal with upward conversion in wavelength and for lower-single sideband signal with downward conversion. The four-wave...
